About

Gabriele Modica is a conceptual artist working across sound, sculpture and interactivity.
His research explores the tactile dimension of perception — using metals, sensors and sound circuits to create artworks that are meant to be touched, activated, and completed by the presence of the viewer.

His ongoing body of work, TOCCO, turns conductive materials into resonant surfaces, where every gesture becomes a sonic ritual. Inspired by the visions of cyborg artists such as Neil Harbisson, Modica seeks to dissolve the boundary between observer and artwork, body and system, ritual and code.

His practice emerges at the intersection of minimal sculpture, sound art and human-machine interfaces — using analog materials and digital logic to build new spaces of embodied interaction.

Gabriele Modica lives and works in Palermo.

The viewer is compelled into a deeper, more direct sensory involvement, dictated by the intimate relationships between forms, colors, and matter. The material evokes a paradoxical game, where perception and substance intertwine to create a dialogue between the visible and the invisible. [...]​
